What is Tangem Wallet?
Your crypto assets are stored on the Blockchain. The Tangem Wallet is a self-custodial hardware wallet in the form of a physical card that becomes your private access keys to control and manage your crypto. Your private keys are stored offline inside an EAL6+ secure chip, protecting them from online hackers. You can choose between a 2-card pack, 3-card pack or 2-card + ring pack. Multiple cards allow you to have a back up card/s for added security.
Is Tangem Wallet secure? Can it be hacked?
Tangem Wallet cards use a highly secure certified EAL6+ chip that functions as a micro computer to keep your private keys safe. You can choose to set your cards up with a seed phrase or without a seed phrase. To date, No Tangem card has been hacked. We recommend you keep all your cards equally safe so they are not lost or stolen. We also encourage you to learn additional and safe crypto management practices.
How do you use Tangem Wallet?
The Tangem Wallet uses your mobile phone’s NFC (Near Field Communication) function to communicate with your cards. You will need to download the user-friendly Mobile Tangem App. The Tangem App is a tool used to interact with the blockchain so you can manage your crypto. It serves as a display for your wallet so you can see and transact your digital assets by sending, receiving, buying, and swapping cryptocurrencies, and NFTs. When you set up your cards or ring, each one becomes a separate key. Each separate key is private with equal access to the same funds stored on the blockchain.
How do I set up a Tangem Wallet? Is a seed phrase required?
Your Tangem Cards become your private set of keys to your crypto currencies stored on the blockchain. To set up a Tangem Wallet you will need to have: Your Set of Tangem cards, A mobile phone that has NFC capabilities and Downloaded the Official Tangem App.
The Tangem App is available for download on the App Store, Google Play and GitHub. Follow the prompts to create a new wallet, adding and scanning the cards (and ring if you have one) from your pack. The default Create Wallet set up is seedless using backup cards for recovery, so a seed phrase is not required. However you can choose your preferred set up option with or without a seed phrase, whichever one suits you best. During activation, the Tangem chip generates a random private key offline, ensuring it cannot be compromised.
Step One: Open the Tangem App and Tap Scan Card. Scan any one of your cards to start the process.
Step Two: Choose Create New Wallet or Other Options. You can choose Create Wallet which is without a seed phrase OR you can choose Other Options where you will be able to generate a Seed Phrase or Import an Existing one. Please watch the Setting Up videos below.
Step Three: Follow the prompts to add back up cards.
Step Four: Create Access Code. This can be any word, phrase or number. Re-enter and Submit.
Step Five: Re-Scan your cards to finalize the back up process and continue to your Wallet.
Can I import crypto to Tangem using an existing seed phrase?
Yes. You can choose to set up your Tangem Wallet with a new seed phrase Or use an existing seed phrase and import your crypto assests.
How is a Tangem Ring different from a Card?
The Tangem Ring has the same functionalities as the Tangem Cards and is different by its shape and form. It is the world’s first ring-shaped hardware wallet created with durable Zirconia Ceramic. It provides quick access to your digital assets.
Can Tangem manage NFTs and multiple cryptocurrencies?
Yes. Tangem supports over 16,000 tokens and NFTs across major blockchains, making tokens very accessible and versatile for diverse crypto assets.
Does Tangem support staking or DeFi integrations?
Yes. Tangem supports staking and DeFi platforms access via WalletConnect. The WalletConnect interface within the Tangem App provides a secure gateway to connect with thousands of decentralised applications (dApps).
Is Tangem mobile-only? Does it work with desktops?
Tangem is mobile-only and relies on NFC-enabled smartphones. There is no desktop application available.
What happens if I lose my Tangem card(s)?
If you lose one card, you can use a backup card to access your funds. However, losing all your cards without a seed phrase backup results in permanent loss of your account and funds. We recommend you keep your cards safe and in separate physical locations to help prevent loss or theft.
What happens to My Wallet if Tangem Dissappears?
